High volume side tipper

The first time this trailer discharged a load we knew it was special. Designed specifically for the waste sector, the new patented GLT high volume side tipper is an engineering masterpiece.

The main point of difference with this unit is how the centre of gravity stays within the wheel track as the body opens to a tipping angle of 47 degrees. The stability of this design is impressive while averaging a cycle time of 30 seconds per unit.

The bodies can be customised to suit your application. A mixture of marine grade aluminium and hardox steel plate can be used in key areas to increase the longevity of the trailer. Our 70 cubic metre show trailer with a 10mm aluminium floor has a tare weight of 10.2 tonnes.

All GLT trailers are laser wheel aligned prior to delivery. The highest quality parts are sourced to manufacture each GLT unit. All nuts, bolts and washers are stainless steel. Hydraulic, electrical and air lines are well protected within the chassis.

GLT has designed this body to be highly customisable. Select from either lightweight aluminium or SAAB steel. Both material types can be optioned in a range of thicknesses.

Each different surface of the body can be optioned with different material types and thicknesses to suit your application. Floor sheets can be designed either flat for dry materials or bowled for wet materials such as general waste.

Both front and rear lifting mechanisms on the high volume side tipper are identical. All pivot bushes within the arms are made from oil impregnated nylon which are low maintenance and extremely durable.

Door and side walls are attached to the floor sheet with a special high strength rubber seal. At either end a spherical bearing is used as a pivot point.

End walls pivot open and close sliding through nylon guides. Extra support is given to the walls by using internal nylon spacers.

All our chassis are 700 grade mechanical steel with quenched and tempered skid plates. Minor amounts 350 and 250 grade steel small profiles are used for gussets.

Each chassis is 3D modelled and laser cut. All steel work is hand welded using Miller digital pulse machines by our highly skilled tradesmen.

The tipping pivots utilise a multi-link floating design which takes stress off the chassis and tub bodies. Special nylon pads are used where the body rests on the chassis.

All edges on flanges are sanded and polished to reduce the chances of cracking and to help paint adhere to the steel.

GLT chassis are optimised for Hendrickson Intraax airbag suspension and axles. Other brands such as BPW, SAF and K-Hitch can be optioned. Subtle design changes are made to the chassis to accommodate these different suspension brands ride characteristics.
