Recently, team members Daryl and Lachlan had the privilege of joining Ripley Valley State Secondary College for their first-ever Women Who Weld workshop, held in partnership with the Queensland Manufacturing Institute.
The workshop gave female students a hands-on introduction to welding, showcasing the skill, precision, and creativity involved in the trade. Daryl and Lachlan shared their industry knowledge, answered questions, and discussed the exciting career opportunities available in welding and manufacturing.
The Women Who Weld Program is an initiative designed to encourage and support women entering the welding trade and aims to close the skill gap and open pathways for women into welding and manufacturing.
At GLT Trailers, we believe in supporting initiatives that break down barriers and inspire the next generation to explore industries they may never have considered before. The Women Who Weld program is a powerful example of how schools and industry can work together to open doors and create career pathways for young women.
By participating in events like this, we not only share our knowledge and experience, but also help foster confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging for women in trades. These connections spark ideas, open minds to new possibilities, and play a part in building a more diverse and innovative future for manufacturing.
GLT is proud to have been part of this milestone event and look forward to seeing where these sparks of inspiration will lead.
